The Math Behind the Trade
Transparency is key. We use the following formulas to ensure you understand exactly how your PNL is generated.
PNL Percentage Calculation
Your profit or loss depends on the price movement relative to your direction and multiplier:
For UP positions:
PNL percent = (Exit price / Entry price − 1) × 100 × Leverage
For DOWN positions:
PNL percent = (−1) × (Exit price / Entry price − 1) × 100 × Leverage
PNL amount
PNL amount = PNL percent × Order amount
PNL and PNL percent do not include trading fees.
Trading Fee Calculation
Leverage increases your market exposure, which also scales the trading fee:
Fee = Order amount × Trading fee percent × Leverage × 2
More details on Fees and Limits page.
Exit Price Calculation by Target Profit
If you know the desired profit percent but do not know the exit price.
For UP positions
Exit price = (PNL percent / (100 × Leverage) + 1) × Entry price
For DOWN positions
Exit price = (−1) × (PNL percent / (100 × Leverage) − 1) × Entry price
Loss Cut and Liquidation Price
FYBIT protects your account from negative balances by triggering an automatic Loss Cut.
Loss Cut formula:
100 percent − ((Fee percent + Fee percent) × Leverage + 15 percent)
Exact liquidation price formulas:
For UP positions:
Execution price × (100 percent − (100 percent − ((Fee percent + Fee percent) × Leverage + 20 percent)) / Leverage)
For DOWN positions:
Execution price × (100 percent + (100 percent − ((Fee percent + Fee percent) × Leverage + 20 percent)) / Leverage)
Comparison. With Leverage vs Without Leverage
| Parameter | Without leverage 1x | With your leverage nx |
|---|---|---|
| Price move +5% | +5 dollars | +50 dollars |
| Capital used | 100 dollars | 100 dollars |
| Position size | 100 dollars | 100 x n dollars |
| Profit growth | Linear | Multiplied by leverage |
Without leverage, profit and loss follow the market movement directly. With leverage, the same price movement produces a much larger result, but liquidation risk appears if the price moves against your position.
Why Use a Leverage Calculator?
- Visualize Real Risk: See how close your liquidation price is before the market moves.
- Optimize Leverage: Compare how a 10x vs. 50x leverage affects your margin of error.
- Accurate Averaging: Automatically calculate the true entry price for complex, multi-order positions.
FAQ. Quick Insights
What does 20x leverage mean for a 100 dollar position?
With 20x leverage, you control a 2,000 dollar position using 100 dollars of capital. A 1 percent price move in your favor results in approximately 20 percent profit before fees. The same price move against you results in a 20 percent loss.
Does 10x leverage guarantee 10x profit?
No. Leverage multiplies both profit and loss. Higher leverage reduces the distance to liquidation, which means positions require stricter risk management and well placed stop losses.
How is "Average Price" calculated for multiple orders?
It is a volume-weighted average:
(Execution price 1 * order amount 1 * leverage 1 + Execution price 2 * order amount 2 * leverage 2 + ... +
Execution price (N) * order amount (N) * leverage (N)) / (Order amount 1 * leverage 1 + Order amount 2 * leverage 2 + ... +
Order amount (N) * leverage (N))
